Bar owner Hux, on his good nights, sometimes goes on the stage to sing. Ben hears something akin to a siren call and enters while Hux is singing Back to Black and he feels the proverbial arrow pierce and shatter his heart.

Hux is wearing dark grey dress pants, a crisp white shirt and a black vest and his forearms are covered in black tattoos. He sings while looking far ahead, as if he’s not in this bar, or even in this moment in time.

Ben was a lonely child who talked to his toy soldiers and
stuffed animals. His favourite wooden soldier wore a bright red cape over a
smart grey uniform. He called the toy “General Hux”, for surely only a general who
commanded whole armies would be dressed in such a sharp uniform, and “Hux” sounded like a good name for a redheaded general. Ben made the
general many tiny medals from pieces of aluminum, and took Uncle Chewie’s
sewing pin to be the general’s very sharp rapier, which has tasted the blood of
many enemies.

Ben’s mother didn’t become worried until Ben swore his toys
talked back to him.

Years later, struggling artist/busboy/occasional handyman Kylo
Ren (whose very outdated photo with very large ears, watery eyes, and the completely
wrong name still showed on missing children’s lists) met prospective roommate electrical
engineer Hux.
